• Draw or write a puzzle by hand
If you create any kind of puzzle with paper and pencil, you can make a final copy of it in pen. Colored pencils, watercolors and markers also work well. A light table can really help with your final copy, because you can trace onto a clean sheet of paper. Once it's complete, we'll scan it and use the digital copy in our layout. Be sure to include a title, instructions and by-line, whether you write them or type them in later.
• Make a maze in a drawing / painting program
Make a maze in Skitch!
Open a drawing or painting program, even Skitch.
Fill the space with a color or pattern, then grab the pen or eraser tool.
Start carving a path. Draw all the way to the end, with lots of turns. Don't draw any dead ends yet!
Type 'answerkey' at the bottom, then drag your maze's 'answer key' to your folder in the Finder to save it.
Now, keep adding new pathways and dead ends until your maze is challenging and complete.
You can then add a picture, words or arrow to show the start and maybe an 'X' at the end.
Add pictures or other graphics to decorate your maze, if you want.
Give your maze a title and a by-line, then save it by naming it "maze__" and dragging it to your folder in the Finder.
